About Stephanie
I was born in Illinois, but have called Miami, FL home since I was 7 years old. I’m a momma to two girls who inspire me to always be my best and a wife to a husband who supports me in all my running and non-running adventures.
I started running in 2012 when my daughters were 2.5 years old and 6-months old. My goal with running at that time was to show my girls what it looked like to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Little did I know that the thing I started doing for them would transform into something I did for me because it was a space for me to feel empowered and free. I have since participated in over 130 road races with the half marathon being my favorite (almost at 60!). Beyond running on the roads, my love for the process of running led to run coaching certifications with Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) in 2019 and McMillan Running in 2023. My half marathon PR is 1:51 and my marathon PR is 3:52.
While I always say that running is my #1 love when it comes to movement, yoga is a close second. I started practicing yoga in 2013 during a time I took 6 weeks off from running to heal from an IT band injury. I went to a “power vinyasa” class and fell in love with the challenge of the poses and the feeling of being like a child learning something new and fun. Yoga became the perfect companion to my running after that first class and I believe the body awareness and breathing practices developed through my yoga practice have helped me stay injury-free as a runner since 2013. I went on to complete my yoga teacher training in 2015 and have advanced certifications in yoga for athletes, Yoga For All, and Empowered Wisdom Yoga Nidra.
I believe that even coaches need coaches and have been lucky enough to have spent the last few years being coached by Jessica (Sugar Runs). This coaching relationship has shown me the importance of having a coach who is willing to learn alongside their athlete, the immeasurable benefits of open and honest communication, and how to show oneself grace when discovering and remembering one’s WHY for running.
I approach coaching with a human-first lens (there’s no one quite like you and training should reflect all that makes you unique!) that emphasizes collaboration and training in a way that leaves the athlete feeling strong and supported as they work toward their goals. Running is something we add to our lives and, as a coach, I do my best to make the training as fun as possible. The yoga practitioner and teacher is always in me, so athletes can expect me to encourage them to give breathwork, yoga, stretching, and mobility a try.
I look forward to meeting you and joining your not-always-linear-but-always-beautiful running journey.
