2019 Boston Marathon Race Recap
A week later and I’m definitely still riding that post-Boston marathon high! I am still so in awe of how amazing the day felt and how much I fully enjoyed the race experience. It was everything I hoped it would be. I wanted to link you up to my 2017 Boston Recap post because the post race thoughts on Boston at that point resonate with me now. This race is hard to race. I felt lucky I wasn’t out for blood this year, because I would’ve been wrecked. Lowering my expectations and running this race for fun brought back all the love I missed out on two years ago.
Team Sugar Runs Takes on Boston
It’s almost time to hit the streets in Boston and we’ve got an amazing group of athletes who will be out there on Marathon Monday. They’ve all got unique stories on how they got here and what this race means to them, so I’d like to take a minute to share them:
Boston Marathon Tips!
We’re officially a week out from Boston and it’s time for all the excitement! This will be my second time running Boston - last time was in that 2017 heat wave! I know there are tons of blog posts out there about how to approach this weekend and race, but I thought it would be a good idea to put together a post for first timers and for myself as I’ve had the chance to revisit my first Boston experience and some of the things I wish I’d done differently.
2017 Boston Marathon Race Recap
Boston has been my dream. It was hard to get here, and it was even more difficult to race this marathon successfully.
Race Week: Boston Marathon Goals and Race Plan
I've put together my race goals. I always set a few goals for myself for a race so I don't walk away completely disappointed if I don't get my A goal. After such an awesome training cycle, I'd be lying if I said that I will not be super upset if I don't hit my A goal.
Week 3 & 2 - Boston Marathon Training + Taper
My goal for the coming week is to focus on hydration and getting it in each day. I know that the small things I do throughout this week leading up to my race will make a huge difference on race day.
Week 4 - Boston Marathon Training
This week was good. After 2 really tough long runs a few weeks ago, I nailed my long run this past weekend.
Week 7, 6, 5 - Boston Marathon Training
The last few weeks were some of my toughest. Work's been busy, mileage has been hard both in volume and intensity of workouts, and I've really fallen out of my diligent recovery routine. I'm still feeling pretty good and am positive this has been one of my best training cycles yet, so there's definitely some positives coming out of that grittiness.
Week 10 - Boston Marathon Training
I'm at the point in marathon training where things get pretty tough and weeks start to fly by really fast. The mileage is high, the workouts are intense, and I have a love/hate relationship with all of it!
Week 11 - Boston Marathon Training
Damn this week hit hard. Not because the training was particularly difficult, but because I got sick. The toughest thing during a training cycle besides dealing with an injury is getting sick.
