Week 5, 6, 7 - Eugene Marathon Training
Yeah... I knew it was going to be tough to keep up with these weekly training posts. My blog seems to be the first thing to go once training really picks up and sleeping, eating and surviving are the only things I care about (besides my athletes, of course!).
Week 4 - Eugene Marathon Training
This week was not a success on paper, but it felt like my most successful week so far. I am considering never doing a spring marathon again because I look back at all of my spring marathons and they seem to be the roughest cycles for me.
Week 3 - Eugene Marathon Training
This week started rough again, but ended GREAT! I've been working hard to change my mindset the last couple days about training and it helped me have a great weekend of running. Does anyone else struggle with how hard things feel at the beginning of a training cycle?
Week 2 - Eugene Marathon Training
MMMk this week was tough. I've been super fatigued which I think is a combo of adjusting to the jump in mileage and life is just nuts right now. Ricky and I got engaged in October and we finally set a wedding date for December of this year.
2017 NYC Marathon Race Recap - A NEW PR!
Marathon recaps are so hard... mostly because it's such a long race, how can I remember every moment??? But I want to relive this race over and over because it was the BEST RACE EVER!!!!!!!!
Week 3 & 2 - Boston Marathon Training + Taper
My goal for the coming week is to focus on hydration and getting it in each day. I know that the small things I do throughout this week leading up to my race will make a huge difference on race day.
Week 4 - Boston Marathon Training
This week was good. After 2 really tough long runs a few weeks ago, I nailed my long run this past weekend.
Week 7, 6, 5 - Boston Marathon Training
The last few weeks were some of my toughest. Work's been busy, mileage has been hard both in volume and intensity of workouts, and I've really fallen out of my diligent recovery routine. I'm still feeling pretty good and am positive this has been one of my best training cycles yet, so there's definitely some positives coming out of that grittiness.
Week 9 & 8 - Boston Marathon Training
The last 2 weeks have flown by. I'm at the point in training where I'm pretty exhausted and the only thing that matters more than getting my daily dose of peanut butter is sleeping. A lot.
Week 10 - Boston Marathon Training
I'm at the point in marathon training where things get pretty tough and weeks start to fly by really fast. The mileage is high, the workouts are intense, and I have a love/hate relationship with all of it!
Week 11 - Boston Marathon Training
Damn this week hit hard. Not because the training was particularly difficult, but because I got sick. The toughest thing during a training cycle besides dealing with an injury is getting sick.
