Fit Friday - Wedding Weekend Setbacks + Gym Time Finally
The last week went by crazy fast! The wedding last weekend was a blur (whether that's from too much wine, or not... You can guess), and I can't believe there's only 5 more weeks until CIM! Seriously. Where does the time go?
Remember last week when I said I was going to try to make it to the gym while I was away for the wedding? Yeah, me either. Because it didn't happen. So much wine and fun. The wedding was a dream. It was at a small, remote ranch in Fallbrook - about a 25 minute drive from where we stayed in Temecula. My BFF married the man of her dreams under an oak tree. They had streaming lights, an awesome DJ, and open bar. Yes. Amazing.....!
I ended up taking 2 days off. After a difficult 17 miler on Friday morning before leaving for Temecula, I didn't run again until Monday night. Monday's run went really well though. The first 6 miles were a tempo and I used the last 4 to hold a solid 8 minute pace. Since the Long Beach Half, speed has been a struggle for me. But I've also resolved that I should only do speedwork once a week. My other resolve after Portland was to make it to the gym. I finally did that on Tuesday morning. Holy moly it was so hard! My upper body strength is so depleted - nonexistent. I only have a few weeks left, but I'm determined to make every moment count so I can be successful at CIM.
Coming back from Temecula last Sunday and feeling pretty lazy, I didn't make time to grocery shop, meal prep or do laundry, and that left me feeling a little frazzled and pressed for time this entire week. Probably the reason why I took Wednesday off and didn't make any cross training classes happen. I've made an effort to put every workout in my calendar so it makes it a bit easier to stay on track.
Here's the last 7 days:
Saturday/Sunday: Rest
Monday: 10.5 miles @ 7:49 pace
Tuesday 5.5 miles @ 8:34 pace
Wednesday: Rest. I used this day to get back on track with meal prep.
Thursday: 5 miles @ 8:21 pace and 3.6 @ 8:52 pace with the GRVL Runners at night
Friday: Rest
I still ate really well this week even though I felt unprepared. I found this easy kale/brussel sprout salad recipe for lunch and added in hard boiled egg for protein and avocado for a healthy fat. I made it through my first jar of Wild Friends' Pumpkin Spice peanut butter (I still have 5 more to go!), so I obviously made some overnight oats that were delicious! I've been wanting to spiralize more, so I made a yummy potato noodle breakfast bowl that was very easy and all whole foods.
This morning I was able to get in a long 20 miler, but that's saved for next week's Fit Friday post. Only 24 miles for the last 7 days, but I feel really good going into this weekend.
Happy Halloween!
